My name is Ashley Mangels and I’m from the North Fork of Long Island. When I was a kid I would have dreams about pulling into the beach at the end of my road and there would be a surf contest going on with great waves. I was ecstatic, but eventually I would wake up. When I was a bit older I realized the Long Island Sound might be able to be surfed with a big enough board and enough wind.
I have been surfing the Long Island Sound now for about 10 years. Surfing from Port Jeff to Orient Point and in between. It has been amazing! Surfing in remote spots, with epic landscapes where they’re usually aren’t waves, and maybe have never been surfed before is a thrill I am addicted to. I now pass this adventure onto my kids. Dreams do come true.
