My good childhood friend Aaron Barnett and I try to travel to Jeffreys Bay in South Africa at least once a year, as both of our fathers were born and raised in Durban and grew up surfing in the area. We met Rory and his family about two years ago, when he was an up-and-coming surfer from Cape St. Francis, and we felt his story was worth telling. Through that process, we were introduced to Simon from Fishstix Surfboards and wanted to include him in the documentary as well. Since then, Rory has gone on to be featured in the Rip Curl GromSearch and recently won the South Africa U18 Championship title.
