For this project Leif and I wanted to show a bit more than just surfing in Puerto Rico, we wanted to show the lifestyle and culture that’s all around this place. With the edit cap of 5 minutes in length, I thought it would be cool to open with a fishing trip we took out to Mona, an island about 40 miles west of Puerto Rico in the middle of the Mona passage. We left our house around 2:30 am and got out to Mona while it was still dark and got to watch as the sun was rising over it.

There’s always something to do down here. When the waves are flat we’ll fish, and even on the small days you can usually find Leif sitting on the left at domes hunting air sections.

The end section we shot at one of Puerto Rico’s best and heaviest slabs. Ironically we didn’t really check the forecast one day in November when we were trying to get some final clips for this part so we just set up at the local spot… as soon as we got done shooting both of our phones were filled with clips from the wave up north… we definitely blew it but it happens haha.
