Hey friends,
After weeks of watching, rewatching, debating, and getting lost in edits from around the world, the first-ever AM Surf Edit Contest has officially come to a close.
Here’s how it played out.
From the Final Four, two entries opted to split the prize purse, while two went winner-takes-all. Based on the average of the judges’ total scores, Invierno was eliminated, and we moved into the Final Three.
At that stage, all three remaining entries agreed to split the winnings.
So, “Visions,” “The Yin and Yang of It,” and “Held in Fiberglass” are splitting the $10,000 prize evenly — $3,333 each.
While the prize purse was shared, the final standings landed like this:
4. Invierno
by @jakob_daschek, @nicolopez_ph, @lorenzotii
3. Held in Fiberglass
by @tlagrega, @andermendiguren, @don_marlonetti
2. The Yin and Yang of It
by @harrisonsan
1. Visions
by @christian_habberstad
Huge thanks to our judges — @toddglaser, @mikeydetemple, and @chris_christenson73 — for their time, insight, honesty, and thoughtfulness throughout the process.
And another thank you to the AM team behind the scenes — Rama, Jordan, and Jack — for helping bring this to life.
It was an honor running this contest.
While we ran out of time down the stretch, we’ll continue highlighting some of our favorite edits throughout January. There was too much good work not to.
Round of applause to everyone who entered.
That wraps the first-ever AM Surf Edit Contest, presented by Adam Mar Surf Shop.
Signing off for now.
Happy New Year, family.
